The Scania tractors with the new configurations were unveiled in an exclusive preview during Transpotec Logitec, which took place in Milan between 12 and 15 May 2022. Scania is one of the largest producers of biomethane-powered industrial vehicles. The current scenario, characterized by the upgrading of the refueling infrastructure and a greater supply of biomethane, has generated an increase in demand, especially for long-haul tractors. From today, Scania introduces new tank options (BioCNG and BioLNG) to its offering that will bring significant improvements in range.

The infrastructure of biomethane and liquefied methane filling stations has definitely reached a critical mass not only in Europe. By expanding the range of tanks within its offer, Scania demonstrates its commitment to developing solutions powered by fuels from renewable sources. In order to drive change towards a sustainable transport world, in fact, fuels from renewable sources represent a fundamental part of the transition for Scania.

This type of vehicle also represents an important milestone for Scania in achieving the objectives defined by joining the “Science Based Targets” initiative, in which Scania is committed to reducing the CO2 emissions of its products by 20% in the period between 2015 and 2025.

Scania Super wins the “Green Truck” 2022

For the sixth time in a row, Scania has won the “Green Truck 2022” award thanks to the significant efficiency and fuel economy demonstrated with the Super.

The new 13-liter Scania Super 6-cylinder engine, introduced in November 2021 and available in four power levels compliant with Euro 6 regulations, this year competed in the test organized by the German specialized magazines “Trucker” and “VerkehrsRundschau”.

The purpose of the “Green Truck” is to identify the best performing industrial vehicle, through rigorous monitoring of fuel consumption and average speed. On a test route of 340 km, the organizers this year established a total mass of 40 tons and a maximum power of 500 hp for the vehicles in the race. Conditions that can affect the results, such as traffic and weather conditions, are compensated for by the use of a reference vehicle. Furthermore, all vehicles have the same brand of tires, with the same wear and pressure.
