Just four years ago, MAN Engines started collaborating in Atlantic Canada with the local dealer and service network of Eastcoast Power Systems in Truro, Nova Scotia. During this time, the specialists for industrial and marine diesel have significantly strengthened the MAN Engines brand locally and significantly expanded the market share. Since sales activities began in 2018, more than 100 six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines have already been sold.

Eastcoast Power Systems is a very committed partner with excellent knowledge of our products, a well-developed dealer and service network and a strong focus on customers. For this they deserve great success in their region and my thanks,” says Ricardo Barbosa, Managing Director of MAN Engines & Components in Pompano Beach, Florida, who is responsible for the Las Americas sales region.

Eastcoast Power Systems serves all Atlantic provinces in Eastern Canada, from Newfoundland and Labrador, to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, through to Quebec and Ontario.

Through the commitment of Sansom Equipment, the first engine with the IMO Tier III emission level valid since the beginning of 2021 was sold to Canadian shipyard Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises for a 24-metre fishing boat.

In addition to government vessels such as coastguard and patrol boats, Bobby Evans, Part Owner of Sansom Equipment, sees the MAN engines he sells primarily in fishing boats for lobsters, crab, and ground fish. “The aftertreatment system from MAN Engines is an SCR-only system and its modularity makes it very flexible to install. When paired with the compact MAN engines, this means improved payload and comfort for our customers.”

The advantages of MAN engines with exhaust gas aftertreatment are also evident in repower projects, which account for an increasingly significant share. For this reason, Eastcoast Power Systems keeps a wide range of MAN engines in its network of over 14 dealers and workshops, in addition to numerous spare parts, so that it can respond quickly to customer requests.
