Bobcat has started the transition to Stage V for its wide range of telehandlers. The first models have been sold earlier this year, while others will be released in 2021. Once again, Doosan (read our recent post on the transition to Stage V for Bobcat wheel loaders) is taking care of the powertrain, which offers an average 7 percent reduction in fuel consumption and 14 percent more torque than the previous Stage IV version.
Bobcat and Stage V: starting with 75-hp models
The first models to benefit from the clean engines will be the 75-hp ones, on sale since the beginning of July, which will be followed in 2021 by more powerful models in the 100- and 130-hp ranges. The smaller ‘lynxes’ (11 models in all, including the TL 26.60, TL 30.60 and the new TL 30.70 Agri versions) will be powered by the 3.4-litre 4-cylinder D34 engine, which, in order to reduce emissions, adopts the automatically regenerating DPF, with the advantage of not affecting performance or rather requiring any intervention by the operator.
Greater design freedom
The fact that there is no SCR has obvious practical advantages for the user, but also for the designers, who have had more freedom to redesign the engine bonnet with a more sloping profile, improving visibility and reducing blind spots by 15 percent on the right side of the machine. Access to the engine compartment is also very easy, making maintenance easier.
As for the Bobcat track loaders, the engine used is the 4-cylinder D24 with 2.4-litre displacement which, in the Stage V version with Bosch fuel injection system, may improve the machine’s overall performance as well as significantly reduce both noise and vibration.
