Doosan continues the renewal of its range of construction equipment. In fact, the time has come for the new DX27Z-7, DX35Z-7, DX50Z-7 and DX55R-7 mini excavators. Four new models that preside over a fundamental weight range. The new design, which clearly identifies all the machines of the Korean manufacturer, hides Stage V engines. With both Zero Tail and Short Radius architectures, but all with the propensity to operate in confined urban spaces.

The DX27Z-7 and DX35Z-7 are both equipped with the Doosan D17 Stage V engine. The power output is 18.4 kW (24.7 hp) at 2,400 and 2,200 rpm. The DX50Z-7 and DX55R-7 models are instead equipped with the Doosan D18 Stage V engine with 36.4 kW (48.8 hp) at 2,200 rpm. The trend of the Korean manufacturer in the use of its engines is therefore confirmed. A very interesting picture that sees the optimization of power and torque in view of specific use on earth-moving machines.

The hydraulic system provides very interesting flow rates when compared to the class to which it belongs. The DX27Z-7 has 58 l / min. The DX35Z-7 instead rises to 74 l / min. The DX50Z-7 and DX55R-7 have 80 l / min. These are values that place them in the high range of the market. The hydraulic management is definitely interesting. In fact, an EPPR proportional distributor is available as an option for the two-way and rotation functions. The operator can then adjust the hydraulic flow in 10-step increments using the joystick with proportional cursor.

Comfort according to Doosan

The comfort of an earth-moving machine certainly depends on the cab. In fact, it is useless to have a highly refined driving position when the basic dynamic elements are missing, including stability in excavators. The Korean manufacturer has in fact completely revised the structure of the turret by introducing high-density die-cast counterweights in the new design. This is to ensure the necessary stability in all operating conditions.

Counterweights that can be integrated, on all four new models, with additional elements. This is a choice that Doosan made to balance machines with a long forearm. On the DX27Z-7 the integrated additional counterweight has a weight of 60 kg. That goes up to 100kg for the DX35Z-7. For the DX55R-7, the option of an additional 200 kg bolted counterweight is available. The completely renovated cabin is located on this basic structure.

The door is now fully glazed to increase lateral visibility. Air conditioning is standard except on DX27Z-7 and DX35Z-7 models. The work lights are now LED to improve visibility and reduce consumption. Vital signs are monitored via a 5.7” touch screen on the DX27Z-7 and DX35Z-7. Up to 8” on the DX50Z-7 and DX55R-7. The latter also have the air suspension seat with heating. The joysticks are equipped with a proportional cursor.

FPT Industrial: let’s go, XC13

The XC13 surely sounds agnostic in FPT Industrial’s unofficial nomenclature; it comes, indeed, with a tripartite certification: Euro 6E (winking an eye at the upcoming Euro 7), methane gas and also biofuel, with a link to hydrogen. Andrea Abbà, FPT’s product marketing manager, told us about dialogui...
