e-vision is going all the way to Munich, and for the first time on the bauma scene, to show the world premiere of the Power80. An smart combination, in the name of sobriety, so as not to burden small and medium tonnage construction machinery with probably premature costs and complications. A permanent magnet synchronous motor associated with FPT Industrial’s F34, compact, two valves per cylinder, mechanical power ceiling below the fateful 56 kilowatt threshold.

e-vision, aka AS Labruna, holds a celebration of the hybrid at bauma

Massimo Labruna is the helmsman of e-vision and AS, a visionary engineer with multitasking vision, so to speak. Lately, the company from Monopoli (in Southern Italy) had focused on the marine universe (POWERTRAIN met him at Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa Boat Show and SMM Hamburg). That is not to say that it has lost sight of industrial applications. And it is precisely at bauma that AS’s ‘alternative’ assett, which is strongly focused on the development of zero-emission solutions, i.e. electric and hydrogen, fuel cells, even methanol, unveiled a diesel-electric power pack called Power 80. It is a system consisting of the aforementioned FPT Industrial diesel engine, the 3.4-litre four-cylinder (BxS 99×110 mm), Stage V, 55 kW, coupled to a 25 kW – 96 V electric motor, powered by a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Four modes of operation

The hybrid system can work in four modes: ‘full electric work’, in which the electric motor drives the load with zero emissions, and the Diesel engine is uncoupled and switched off. Then there is ‘recharge & generator’, where the ICE drives the electric module, which recharges the batteries and generates electricity. Through an inverter, it is also possible to drive single-phase and three-phase loads in AC at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. This leads to the third system, called ‘work & recharge’. In this case, the thermal drives the load, recharges the batteries and generates electricity. Through an inverter, it is also possible to drive single-phase and three-phase loads in AC at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Finally, the ‘booster’ mode: the diesel engine and electric module drive the load simultaneously, providing a torque of 480 Nm and a total power of 80 kW.
