F28 by Fpt Industrial is the Diesel of the year 2020

F28 Diesel fo the year 2020
Las Vegas, Nevada, ConExpo/AGG-Con. the place to be for a winner

F28 Diesel of the year 2020. Las Vegas, Tuesday, March 10, the editorial staff of Diesel International was not there, forced to smart working by Covid19.

CONEXPO AND COVID19

He was. And let’s start at the beginning, like any self-respecting story. Finally, all the cards are on the table. The diesel and CNG versions, unveiled at the Agritechnica in Hanover last November, have been joined by the hybrid version. Three souls in the same engine block. They’re saying, FPT, about the hybrid: “The 2.8-liter hybrid engine was developed to offer the ideal performance for compact machinery offering enhanced productivity and improved efficiency. With four in-line cylinders, the thermal engine delivers a maximum power of di 54,4 kW (74 hp), while the electric motor adds 19,9 kW (27 hp) of continuous power and 29,4 kW (40 hp) of peak power. Light construction machines such as skid steer loaders, drum rollers and backhoe loaders benefit from the peak power at certain times to complete their missions more efficiently. The F28 Hybrid combines high performance and low fuel consumption in a compact packaging. It also features enhanced system efficiency, simple architecture, fast op- eration, and optimized Start & Stop for a smoother engine start. The integration of the engine’s hybrid architecture is based onFPT Industrial’s pro- prietary control software, reinforcing the Brand’s role as a full system integrator.”

WHEN WE ANNOUNCED THAT F28 WAS THE DIESEL OF THE YEAR 2020

Talking about the award, that Fpt Industrial has winned for the third time (Diesel of the year timeline), they said: “This year, the international jury selected the F28 engine for its combination of winning fea- tures: compactness, productivity and environmental-friendliness. The compactness makes this engine the perfect solution for agriculture equipment including specialized and small utility tractors, as well as for light construction equipment, such as skid loaders and compact wheel loaders. When it comes to its sustainable credentials, the F28 is compliant with Stage V and Tier 4 Final emission standards, taking advantage of the Brand’s ultracompact after-treatment solution, which uses a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) + Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) for the European market, and a DOC-only for North America, with the same design for both regions. What the jury appreciated most was the modular approach this engine takes. Developed as both a Diesel and Natural Gas powertrain, it is also ready to be used in hybrid electric mode. The 100% Natural Gas (NG) version has the same displacement and interface as the Diesel version, with common base components, and a 3-way catalyst in the after-treatment system, confirming the ‘Diesel like performance brand motto’”.

The words of Annalisa Stupenengo, CEO of FPT Industrial

Annalisa Stupenengo, CEO of FPT Industrial, said: «On behalf of FPT Industrial, we are honored to have won ‘Diesel of the Year’ again. This award acknowledges and appreciates our innovation path because this engine was conceived to be modular and multi-power. I commend the entire team on this great result!».

FPT Industrial: let’s go, XC13

The XC13 surely sounds agnostic in FPT Industrial’s unofficial nomenclature; it comes, indeed, with a tripartite certification: Euro 6E (winking an eye at the upcoming Euro 7), methane gas and also biofuel, with a link to hydrogen.
