On the occasion of the British event where the latest product innovations were presented, JCB also revealed the new versions of its flagship Fastrac 4000 and 8000 series tractors, agricultural vehicles that have always been characterized by surprising operating speed. The new versions announced by the British manufacturer, with powers between 178 and 348 kW, will bring a completely renewed technological package, characterized by substantial changes also as regards the management of the transmission (with the Smart Transmission Control system).

The new Fastracs are accompanied by the wording “iCon”, from the name of the newly developed console mounted on the armrest and flanked by a touch-screen display that offers exceptional flexibility in the allocation of commands and in the information that can be consulted by the operator. An extremely stratified framework, enriched by the optional integrated Isobus system (with which the equipment can be controlled via a touch-screen) and the GPS guide, flanked by optional apps for precision agriculture.

JCB Fastrac, the iCon technological armrest

At the heart of the new Fastrac iCon models is a new electronic platform that allows you to fully integrate a range of modern high-tech features as standard or optional equipment. The most obvious manifestation of this development is the new iCon console mounted on the seat armrest and a 12-inch color touch-screen display, which can be placed in front of the controls for easy viewing or moved to the side to maximize the visibility offered from the large windshield of the Fastrac.

JCB Fastrac, improved transmission control

JCB has also introduced the Smart Transmission Control, a new system that allows operators to set the travel speed forward leaving the tractor to balance engine speed and gear ratio to reach the set speed under variable load. For added convenience, the joystick and pedal driving modes no longer need to be preselected, as they are set automatically when either of the controls are used; another option allows operators to choose one of the two input configurations when controlling the transmission using the joystick.

AGCO Power under the hood

The Fastrac 4220 is equipped with an AGCO 6.6-litre, six-cylinder engine that supplies a generous power up to 235 hp (175 kW) and a maximum torque of 950 Nm. The CVT transmission ensures optimum use of power and torque, with seamless acceleration and power delivery, ideal speeds for every situation, and ultra-fine speed control for top-quality work with all implements. The larger 8000-series includes the 280hp 8290 and 8330, which is rated to 348hp (260 kW).
