JCB Power Systems celebrates its 750 thousandth engine. It hasn’t been too long, exactly four years, since the bottles of sparkling wine were uncorked for the 500 thousandth engine produced by the British lines.

JCB Power Systems: next milestone, the millionth engine!

The 750,000th engine just rolled off the JCB line in Derbyshire, where production first started in 2004. Engine production was later extended to India in 2011, helping to make JCB a reference in the segment.

JCB chairman Lord Bamford said: “750,000 engines is a milestone when you consider that we started manufacturing just 17 years ago. In this period, the milestones achieved with our engines are many, including two world speed records on land. With the development of our new hydrogen engine, there is much more to come, and the future for the JCB engine business looks very bright.”

More than half of the 750,000 engines were built at the JCB facility, which produces the 55 to 212 kW powertrain range. The motors are used to equip JCB vehicles and those of customers who produce other types of machines and equipment such as road sweepers, screens, crushers and tugs.

The 48 Indian variants

The JCB India plant in Delhi currently produces around 48 engine variants, both for the Indian market and for export. Among the highlights of the last 17 years of engine production is the “Queen’s Award for International Trade” awarded to JCB Power Systems in 2016 which rewarded 325 percent growth in component sales.

JCB Power Systems was also awarded the Diesel of the Year in 2011. The celebration took place at the Samoter.
